George Wataru Funamoto
FUNAMOTO, George Wataru

George Funamoto chose June 16, 2016 to say his final goodbye. He passed away peacefully after a short illness, in his 93rd year. He will be forever cherished by his wife, Theresa Fumiyo, his three daughters, Joyce, Jayne (David Angles) and Janet and his grandson, Brendan. He was born on September 20, 1923 in Kamloops, B.C. and was predeceased by his parents, Shoichi and Mitsuyo and his siblings, Doug, Ina, Junso and Yosh. He worked as an accountant at Rheem Canada for 30 years. George lived life to the fullest even to the end and was always active and looking forward to the next challenge. He loved fishing, playing golf and the great outdoors. He was also dedicated to preserving the history of the internment of Japanese Canadians in WWII. His family wishes to thank Dr. Alanna Smrke, nurse Erica and the Palliative team at Juravinski Hospital. Friends will be received at P. X.
