Obituary for Suzanne Stanton

Suzanne Stanton
STANTON, Suzanne Monique
August 17, 1972 - May 12, 2017
Passed away peacefully at the age of 44. Suzanne will be greatly missed by her mother Helen, brother Michael and sister-in-law Tracie, her nephew Zeke and nieces Zola and Zeta. She will also be lovingly remembered by her fiance Jason Ouellette. Predeceased by her father Michael Stanton Sr. For forty-four years Suzanne struggled to live. At six weeks old she had her first heart surgery and there would be many more to come. She had the worst luck when it came to her health. It seemed as if some great force was working against her. And yet she had fun. She laughed. She loved. She lived life. She did things healthy people wouldn't try and she would succeed at them. There were ups and there were downs, and they were always extreme. It's funny how one of the weakest people we knew was also the strongest. Suzanne and those who suffer like her is what makes us human. In her predicament is our person. The fear, pain, and everything that makes us suffer the same as all God's creatures draws out our humanity and our ability to work against our natural instincts to serve a higher purpose. Suzanne was an angel in life guiding us - hoping we'd do the right thing. Now she is an angel in heaven and we miss her. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gillie, Dr. Lumb, Dr. Kanani and the staff at the Juravinski Hospital Ward 3C for the time, care and attention they so generously provided for Suzanne, with a special mention to nurses Kelly and Philomena. Thank you to Fr. Charlie for his blessings and a special thank you to Aunt Eileen, cousin Maureen and dear family friend Dee, your support has been immeasurable. All of the thoughts, prayers and well wishes by family and friends have been truly appreciated throughout Suzanne's illness. A Gathering of Remembrance for Suzanne will be held on Friday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at P.X. Dermody, 796 Upper Gage Ave, Hamilton, ON L8V 4K4, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. lead by Father Charlie. In Lieu of flowers, donations to Juravinski Hospital would be appreciated.
