Obituary for Fr. Philip Peter Sherlock

Fr. Philip Peter  Sherlock
Peacefully, at Hamilton General Hospital, on Friday, June 2, 2017, Fr. Philip Peter Sherlock in his 81st year of life on the 55th anniversary of his ordination to the Priesthood. Predeceased by his parents Catherine (nèe O'Brien) and John Joseph Sherlock, his brother Rev. Fr. William (Bill) Francis and brother James Vincent, as well as his brother in law William Dool. He is survived by his siblings Joseph Gerald (Bernice), Bishop John (Jack) Michael (Retired Bishop of London), Mary Isabel Dool, Eleanor Agnes Monahan (Edward) and Allan Gerard (Annamarie), his sister in law Catherine and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as many friends.

Fr. Sherlock served the Hamilton Diocese at St. Patrick’s Parish, Sacred Heart Parish, Saint Lawrence Parish, and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish as Associate Pastor and St. Patrick’s Parish, Cambridge, St. Margaret Mary Parish, Hamilton and St. Clement’s Parish, Cambridge as Pastor. From the early 1960’s he taught at Cathedral Boys High School, Hamilton, and served as Vice Principal for several years and as Principal from 1970-1971.

Visitation on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. Then on Wednesday, at St. Clement Catholic Church,745 Duke Street Cambridge, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Clement Catholic Church, Cambridge, on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Hamilton at 3 p.m. Thursday.
