Condolence: My father, Bill Kula, taught with Father Phil for many years at Cathedral Boys' High School. I met Father Phil when I was a teenager and he was a guest in our home for many many years. He was a wonderful human being, a witty raconteur, a delightful dinner companion and an amazing priest. Dad called him "Speedy" when Father Phil delivered an outstanding quick sermon on a hot summer Sunday. It was Father Phil whom my Dad wanted to see when he was at the end of his life. He will be missed.

Condolence: I was fortunate to have known Father Sherlock as a teacher when I attended Cathedral Boys’ High School in Hamilton as a student, then as a colleague when I started teaching at St. Mary’s High School in Hamilton where he was serving as chaplain, and finally as pastor in residence at St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Burlington where my family and I attend as parishioners. Father Phil possessed a razor-sharp mind and an extensive erudition that impressed anyone with whom he conversed; and yet he exuded a quiet unobtrusive manner and an affability that could win over anyone with whom he came in contact. I am deeply saddened that the Church has lost such an exemplary priest and such an unforgettable human being. His presence in this earthly life touched the lives of many for the better.
