Obituary for Patrick James "Pat" Fischer

Nov 25, 1949 – June 9, 2017

Devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend has passed away at the Juravinski Hospital. Pat has died surrounded by his wife, children and brothers with love, hope, and peace. Beloved husband of Rose (nee Gaetan) for 46 years. Loving father of Derek (Melissa), Bradley (Charlene), and Karin (Lowell). Grandpa Pat of Braedan, Griffin, Avalon and Drake. Dear brother of the late Franklin, the late Jack (Jinny), Roger (Rosemary) and his twin brother Brian (Joan). Brother-in-law of Mike Gaetan (Christine), and Janette Bain (Brad). Survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Pat was a retired employee of Bank of Montreal for 44 years. He was a dedicated member of the SAM Program and was instrumental in several transitions, the Kinsmen Club, United Way, YMCA, was an active marathoner, and an ultra marathoner, recently finishing a 50km race in October. He also enjoyed curling, golf and was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Ave., South, Hamilton, on Wednesday, June 14th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Prayers will be said on Wednesday at 8:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Joseph’s Parish on Thursday, June 15th at 11am. Cremation to follow. Donations to the Hamilton General Hospital and the Juravinski Hospital would be appreciated. Thank you to our family, friends, neighbours, BMO staff, the cardiac unit at the Hamilton General Hospital, Oncology and ICU units at Juravinski Hospital, and St. Peter’s Rehab for all the care and compassion shown to Patrick.
