Bird, Elaine Blanche (nee Simpson, Barber)
Elaine passed away peacefully in her sleep at Idlewyld Manor on July 27, 2017 in her 90th year. Loving Mother of Daniel Simpson(Wanda), Susan Roberts, Nancy Barber, and Irene Rimnyak(Ron). Loving Grandma of Jason Kennedy(Paula), Kelly Young(Jeff), Nancy Roberts, Shane Simpson(Jassandra), Lindsay Montforts(Luke), Jennifer Rimnyak(Andrew), Staci Simpson, and Christopher Rimnyak(Kaitlyn). Loving great-grandma of Kiahna Roberts, Quin Burgess-Kennedy, Brooklyn Young, Morgan Burgess-Kennedy, Alexander and Olivia Montforts. Predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Charles Bird(2005). Elaine worked in the service industry for many years and in the 1960’s, had the distinction of being the first female bartender at the Royal Connaught Hotel and in all of the Sheraton Chain. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Avenue S., on Monday July 31, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday August 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
