Eileen Sophia Luchak, 90, died peacefully at Dearness Home in London, Ontario, on Sunday October 1, 2017, surrounded by her family. Eileen was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, to Peter and Anastasia (nee Slyzuk) Cowtun, and was the youngest of eight children. Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend of the community. She is predeceased by her loving husband Judge William Joseph Luchak of Hamilton, Ontario; her four sons and their spouses, Paul of Mississauga, Ontario, Peter (Paula) of London, Ontario, Andrew (Catherine) of Edmonton, Alberta, and David (Maria) of Mississauga, Ontario; her sister Elizabeth Pearl Oryschak of London, Ontario; twelve loving grandchildren, Caitlyn, William, Laura, Simon, Matthew, Jenna, Sara, Nicholas, Michael, Julia, Billy, and Megan; more than 50 nieces and nephews; and countless others who were touched by her loving acts of kindness and charity. Special thanks to all of the staff in the Oakdale wing, Dearness Home for their compassionate care and support. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. Hamilton, Ontario on Thursday, October 5th from 11am-12:30pm followed by Panachyda at 12:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 821 Upper Wentworth Street, Hamilton, Ontario at 1pm. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Ancaster. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dearnness Home, 710 Southdale Road East, London, Ontario, N6E 1R8 to help enrich the lives of long-term care residents would be appreciated by the family.
