Leuser, Maria (nee Hammer)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria on January 12, 2018 at the age of 89. Loving wife and best friend of Josef, who predeceased her in 2013. Cherished mother of John and his wife Bonnie of Ancaster, and Eric and his wife Vania of Hamilton. Beloved aunt of Frank Hammer of Kelowna, B.C. Treasured Oma of John, Ann Marie(Mike), Lisa, Christy(Dino), Christopher, Benjamin, Luke, Melissa(Huck), Mark, and 7 great grandchildren. Loving sister of Aloisia, Alfons, Rupert, and Erika. She is predeceased by her siblings Rosa, Veronika, Theresia, Franz, Katharina, and Anton. Lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, family, and friends in Europe, Australia, U.S.A, and Canada. Maria was a retired employee of McMaster University and its Medical Centre. Sincere gratitude to the staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOMES, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Fennell and Mohawk) on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 6-9PM. Vigil prayers will be said at 8:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10 AM. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to The Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King or a charity of your choice.
