Smith, Richard Lloyd

Richard passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Cancer on January 19th, 2018 at the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton in his 81st year.  Predeceased by his wife Margaret Patricia Smith and youngest son Kyle Smith Scanlon. Richard is survived by his eldest son Rick. He will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Richard proudly served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy on board the submarine Ojibwa for 8 years. Richard was a long-time employee with the Allstate Insurance Company. Since retiring at age 55 Richard continued his love of angling, golfing and music. Richard made a huge impact on the Hamilton Minor Hockey community in his younger days by dedicating lots of his personal time as a Coach.  A Celebration of Life and reception will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOMES, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Saturday, January 27th, 2018 from 12-3 p.m.
 
 In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Center would be greatly appreciated by the family.
