The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family at his home at Idlewyld Manor in Hamilton on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 of Vernon Alexander MacDonald, age 85 years. Beloved husband of the late Anne MacDonald. Loving father of Randy (Kim) Keith (Terry), Blair, and Darlene (Steve) Wilson. Grampie to 3 grandchildren; Shannon, Derek and Jared. Survived by brothers and sisters; Cathy Campbell, Allan (Elaine), Ron (Barb), Arlene Kent (Simon), Harold (Barb), Marion (Richard) MacGregor, sister-in-law Mary Pascerelli and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; Alex and Florence MacDonald, siblings; Mary Bell, Shirley, John, Arthur, Florence Anne, Bobby, Ray, Clinton, Roger, Joseph and Rita. The family would like to thank the staff of the Wellington Retirement Home and Idlewyld Manor on the Orchard view floor, for their wonderful caring help.

Resting at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home in Hamilton (796 Upper Gage Ave.) for visiting hours on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm with prayers at 1:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Regina Mundi Roman Catholic Church in Hamilton (631 Mohawk Rd W.) on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10:00 am. Interment at a later date in the Resurrection cemetery.
