Obituary for Michael Anthony Habszy

Born in Dudley, England on November 13, 1949
Died in Hamilton, Ontario on March 9, 2018
Died peacefully at Juravinski Hospital, age 68, with his sister, Mary, at his side. Predeceased by his parents, Bohdan and Genevieve Habszy (2009). Survived by sisters, Mary and Ann, and nephew, Matthew, as well as extended family in Canada, the USA, England and Ukraine. A denizen of the north end of Hamilton, Michael, a cyclist and an entrepreneur, forged his own path on his own terms. He was a survivor, a kind-hearted soul, polite and respectful, highly intelligent with a keen memory and a gentle sense of humour. He was a loyal friend and kind to animals. He had an eye for architecture and design and was always up to date on current and local events. In the last year of his life, he stoically endured treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The family will have a private memorial at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Although Mike was never able to conquer his addictions, we urge others to try. We thank all those who took care of Michael in his last months. In his memory, Michael would have wanted you to be kind to one another.
