LAJEUNESSE, Irene Madeline (nee MISKOLCZI)

After a wonderful 87 years of life, Irene peacefully passed away in her sleep at home on May 18th, 2018. Irene was born in Saskatchewan and lived happily in Ontario.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, Lucien (Lou), to whom she was married for 26 years; Hamilton was their home.

Step-mother of Donald and Therese Lajeunesse, and step-grandmother to Stephane Lajeunesse-Lewis.

She will be missed by her sisters Ann Burns, Theresa Sielski, Linda Karlowich and Lucy Kaszonyi.

Irene was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Orosz and Mary Hudy, and by her brothers Martin, Gregory and Albert Miskolczi.

Irene began her teaching career in 1957 with the majority of her time spent teaching in Ontario. For her first 25 years as a teacher, Irene was a Sister in the Sisters of Social Service. A talented and respected teacher, Irene’s career flourished until her retirement in 1989.

Irene had many passions including gardening, music, and travel and she added her artistic and creative flair to everything she touched. Later in life Irene moved to Unionville with Renee, her little dog. Irene immediately made new friends and enjoyed her new community.

Irene had a tremendous love of family, especially for her many nieces and nephews, she will be greatly missed.

Irene will live on in our memories and will forever be in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 11 Wilson Street, Ancaster, on Monday, June 25th, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Ancaster. Cremation has taken place.
