Obituary for Reverend Michael Edward Sullivan

Was called to the Lord on June 25, 2018 at St. Josephs Villa at the age of 89. Son of the late Leo Sullivan and Mary Esther Lavigne. Predeceased by an infant brother Jack and his sister Margaret (1975). Survived by his special friend Jeannine Giavedoni who cared for him since 2014. Fr. Sullivan was ordained to the priesthood in 1955 for the Diocese of Hamilton. Fr. Sullivan was a respected teacher at Cathedral Boys High School from 1955 to 1970. During these teaching years he served as Associate Pastor at Blessed Sacrament Parish (Hamilton), St. Patrick Parish (Caledonia), The Cathedral of Christ the King Parish (Hamilton) and St. John the Baptist Parish (Burlington). Fr. Sullivan served as Chaplain at St. Joseph’s Motherhouse from 1970 to 1976. He was appointed Pastor of Corpus Christi Parish (Hamilton) in 1976 where he served faithfully for 24 years until his retirement in 2000. In retirement Fr. Sullivan assisted at St. Maragret Mary Parish in Hamilton until 2014. Heartfelt gratitude to St. Jospehs Villa Oak Grove for their tender and compassionate care especially, Maria, Noemi and Karen.
Visitation will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 1694 Upper James Street (Corpus Christi site) on Thursday June 28, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with Prayers at 8:30 pm and Friday June 29, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Parish 20 Idlewood Ave, from 9 am-10 am. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish on Friday June 29, 2018 at 10 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
