Obituary for John Joseph McPhee

McPhee, John Joseph

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of John Joseph McPhee, cherished father, papa and uncle on January 18, 2019 in his 91st year, in Ancaster. Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Cliffe). Precious father of Colleen (Robert) Millar, the late Patricia, Shelagh (Nicholas) de Koning, Maureen, Sean (Karen) and Kevin (Colleen) McPhee. Much loved papa John of Katie, Scott, the late Kyle, Matthew, Kala, Michael, Kelly, Danny, Meghan, Shannon, Sarah, Morganne, Brenna, Brigid and Kathleen and great papa of Eva and Jack. Son of the late Aeneas McPhee and Catherine (Neilan), brother of the late Brian (Elizabeth) and late Dennis (Kathleen) McPhee. John was a dedicated and proud teacher, coach and principal at Cathedral Boy’s High School and St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary within the Hamilton Catholic District School Board for 35 years. John’s generous spirit and devoted service to Catholic Education touched the lives of countless students in the classroom, on the football field and in the gymnasium. We will forever miss his masterful storytelling and love of the piano. Most of all, we will remember his steadfast love for family and his everlasting faith that kept him strong in his final years. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the spiritual support from St. Ann’s Ancaster Ministry of Care and especially Linda Dayler. Our heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Willowgrove Long-Term Care in Ancaster and Dr. Jim Wright of the Juravinski Hospital whose support and care were exemplary. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave on Wednesday, January 23rd from 3:00pm -9:00pm. The vigil prayers will be at 3:00 pm.
