Passed away peacefully with family at his side on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 72. Loving husband of Norah for 49 years. Beloved father of Michael, Mark, Frank (Rhonda), and Sidney (Lisa). He will be missed by his 11 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Survived by his sisters Cathi (Gary) Jackson, Doris Bentley, and Shirley Deacon, sisters-in-law Margaret (Ted) Clair, and Anne Wingate, and brothers-in-law George (Judy) McGrath, Pat (Liz) McGrath, and Charlie (Margaret) McGrath. Close friend to the Wert family. He will also be missed by his extended family and friends in Canada and abroad. Predeceased by his parents Sidney and Frances, granddaughter Kayla, and brothers Bill and Frank. Sidney was an employee of Dofasco for 34 years in central maintenance. Special thanks to the staff in ICU at both the Hamilton General Hospital and Juravinski Hospital. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Avenue) on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Chapel Service will take place on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Assistance Program would be appreciated by his family.
