Obituary for Audrey Malcolmson
Malcolmson, Audrey
Passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Sunrise of Burlington Nursing Home at the age of 84. Predeceased by her beloved husband Robert of 45 years, and her parents Paul and Marie Walsh (nee Leavey). Survived by her children Ellen Malcolmson (Jim Diodati) and Robert Malcolmson (Lisa). Cherished grandmother of David (Krystle), Andrea (Jordan), Jack, Mary, Maggie, Josh, and Alex. Much loved aunt to her many Malcolmson and Matthews nieces and nephews. Treasured friend of Dian McNeil for over 70 years. Audrey was a woman of many strong opinions that she didn’t hesitate to share, and had a long list of funny sayings and a great sense of humour. She was an active volunteer for many causes, from politics to the cancer society, with her most favourite project being her many years as a volunteer special education teacher’s aide to many students at St. Jean de Brebeuf and Sacred Heart Schools. She was very outgoing and had a wide circle of friends and loved her time with them, especially the group of “old farts” with whom she and Bob shared many good times with for over 50 years. Her Catholic faith was always very important to her and even as her health failed she made every effort to attend weekly Mass at her second home of Sacred Heart Parish. She will be very happy to be reunited with her husband Bob and we hope that he has her laughing already. Special thanks to all the staff at Sunrise of Burlington for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Ave.) on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Parish (19 Viewpoint Ave.) on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, donations to the Good Shepherd would be greatly appreciated.
