Obituary for Monsignor Peter Burdette Coughlin

Monsignor Peter Burdette  Coughlin
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Monsignor Peter Coughlin on Saturday, August 25, 2018 in his 77th year. He was ordained a priest on June 3, 1967 by Bishop Joseph Ryan at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Sarah Coughlin. He will be missed by his siblings, Rose (Harv) Devins, Jackolynn Coughlin, Larry (Linda) Coughlin, and Paul (Simone) Coughlin. Much loved by his nieces and nephews. Father Peter served at several parishes throughout the Diocese of Hamilton as Associate Pastor at; St. Basils, Brantford, St. Margaret Mary, Hamilton, St. Dominic, Oakville, and St Patrick, Burlington, as Administrator at St. Charles Garnier, Hamilton, and as Pastor at St. Patrick, Hamilton, St Michael, Oakville, then working with the Companions of the Cross at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, Ottawa, then served at St. John Parish, Burlington and then Pastor at St Andrew parish, Oakville. He was then made Chaplain of the St. Joseph Motherhouse in Dundas, ON. Monsignor was also Editor in Chief of Bread of Life magazine. He served the renewal of the Church through the Charismatic Renewal and ministry of healing. Visitation will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville, on Thursday, August 30 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 8 p.m. Then at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton on Friday, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at The Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
