Villani, Sister Rita

The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, (Hamilton) are saddened to announce the death of Sister Rita Villani at St Joseph’s convent on December 22 in her 63rd year as a Sister of St. Joseph. She was the daughter of the late Nicola Villani and Yolanda Colilli. She was predeceased by her brothers Tony Villani and Nick Villani and her Sisters Eva DiCenzo and Anna Hudecki. She will be remembered and missed with love by her sister, Rosalie Baldassi and by her Sister-in-law, Lynda Villani. Memories of her love for her family will be cherished by her nieces and nephews.
She will also be missed by the members of her religious community, the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Sister Rita ministered with a spirit of generosity and fervor as a housekeeper and cook and as the Supervisor of Central Supply at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hamilton. Her dry wit will be remembered with fondness. She remained in active ministry until ill-health required she take up residence in the Martha Wing Care Center.
Throughout Sister Rita’s long illness care givers and sisters were amazed at her spontaneous expressions that were both humorous and insightful. We are grateful for the care givers who met her needs with a spirit of caring professionalism which enabled her to participate in the life of the residence, as her health permitted.
The Sisters of St. Joseph will welcome family and friends at St. Joseph’s Convent, Hamilton on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 2 pm to 4:30 and 6:30 to 8 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Convent, Hamilton. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, for the works of the Community would be appreciated.
