Obituary for Sanford Roy "Roy" Norris

Passed away peacefully, at St. Peter’s Hospital on December 26, 2018 in his 93rd year, who was born in Hamilton, on March 1, 1926. Beloved husband of the late Josephine Norris (2017). Loving father of the late Ronald Norris (2017) and lovingly remembered by his sons Arnie, and Nick (Kathy) and his daughter in law Linda Norris. Dear grandfather of Nicole, Vicki, Emily, Erika, Kristin and Josh and great grandfather of Justin, Gabriel, Lilly, Max, Josie, Scarlett and Christopher. Survived by his nieces, Shirley, Donna and Gale and nephews, Bill, Ted and Mark. Special thank you to his niece Christine and her husband Ken Smith and to his niece Linda Amaolo for their numerous visits to comfort Roy. Roy was a retired employed with Hoover Company of Canada for 48 years. An ardent supporter of the union movement, he managed the UEW Clearwater Lake Lodge, where staff affectionately referred to him as ‘Chief’. He was a member of the Queen’s Own Rifles, in World War II; seeing action in the European Theatre and involved in the Liberation of Holland. Special thanks to the caring and diligent Doctors and Nurses of St. Peter’s Heath Care Facility and a special note of thanks to Dr. Rebecca Amer of the St. Joseph’s Firestone Clinic for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P. X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Wednesday January 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.with a celebration of Roy’s life to take place at 8:30 p.m. Private Interment at Holy Souls Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
