Obituary for Barry Snow

SNOW, Barry Albert-Edward

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Barry Snow, 83, who passed away peacefully on December 31st, 2018 at Grace Villa after a long illness. In his final days, Barry was surrounded by his loved ones and the compassionate staff at Grace Villa. Barry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan (née Morton), his daughters, Paula (Paul) Durand, Alicia (John) Wilkes, Christine (Jim) Harris and Ellen (Tim) Eaton and eight grandchildren: Joshua and Ryan Durand, Benjamin and Edmund Wilkes, Jillian and Jonah Harris, and Freddie and George Eaton. Barry is also survived by his sisters Beryl Taylor and Elizabeth Snow, sister-in-law, Marilyn Aitchison, and brother-in-law, Mike Morton, and his nieces and nephews. Barry is predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Susan Snow, and by his brothers, Reginald, Derek and Frank Snow.

Barry was born in England and immigrated to Canada in 1953. Barry met his wife, Susan, through the St. Thomas More Players theatre group. They married in 1968 and theatre remained a shared love throughout their marriage. He was a devoted father and grandad and greatly enjoyed time spent with family. Barry was a long-time parishioner at Sacred Heart Church, where he took on an active role in parish life, including serving for many years as a lector and Eucharistic minister. He was also an enthusiastic handyman, who never hesitated to share his considerable skills with family and friends. In his leisure time, Barry enjoyed cheering on his favourite teams, the Yankees and the Raiders.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Grace Villa for their outstanding kindness and care, and the CCAC for the wonderful support provided while Barry was at home. Also a special thanks to Fr. Charlie Jordan for his care and compassion.
