PAXTON, Joan Marie (née Moore)
May 12, 1926 – September 25, 2019.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Joan on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at The Meadows in Ancaster. She was predeceased by her husbands John Paxton (1999), and Ted O’Brien (2013), and most recently by her eldest daughter Maryann Ilchene. Beloved mother of Jane Flaiani (Robert), Nancy Levenick (Stuart), Susan, James (Teresa), Judi Preston, Beth Kertesz (Steve), John (Heather), David (Christina), and Elin (Scott Gardner). Proud and loving grandmother to 27 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her parents Tommy and Helena Moore, and by her four sisters Ruth Cahill, Colleen Kennedy, Marylou Barclay, and Patricia Taylor. Joan was a life long member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Hamilton, where she and John raised their 10 children during their 48 year marriage. She was a woman of great faith and was in her glory when holding an infant in her arms. Above all else, our mother was most proud of her children, and for this unconditional love we will be eternally grateful. Our family wishes to thank the staff of Fieldcote Lane at The Meadows who cared for our mother in the final years of her life. Visitation at the P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Ave. S., on Sunday, September 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil at 2 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church (Locke St. S. at Herkimer) on Monday September 30 at 10 a.m. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
