ALLEN, Margaret McNiven
We have lost a beautiful lady. Margaret was born in Airdrie Scotland January 20, 1928 to Neil and Phoebe McGeachy. She passed away peacefully October 21, 2019 in her 92nd year with her family by her side. Margaret came to Canada in 1948 on the Aquitania. Two years later she met the love of her life, Albert (deceased March 1, 2019). They worked hard and lived a full and happy life. Margaret said she was so blessed to be able to travel the world with her partner in life. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last year. She is a retiree of Bell Canada and a lifelong member of St. John United Church.
Margaret is survived by her son David (Penny), daughter Norine (Kevin), grandchildren Paul (Kelly), Jamie (Laura), Sarah and Jennifer, and her sister Anna and family. She will be dearly missed by her 5 great-grandchildren and niece Beryl (Brian) and family as well as family and friends in Scotland and the east coast. Predeceased by her sister Ester and brother Donald. Thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at St. Peters Palliative Care 3 East.
Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Avenue) on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. John United Church (195 E 38th St.) on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Burial will then follow to Woodland Cemetery.
Donations made to St. John United Church or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
