Quinn, Frances Mary Edith (nee MacDonald)
Leaving much love and many memories to cherish for those left behind, Frances Quinn passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22nd in her 97th year at the Hamilton General Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband Vincent on May 24, 2005, her dear parents Nellie and Edmund MacDonald, siblings Bertha, John, Mary and Bernie. Frances is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great niece and nephew. Frances spent her early life in Chatham N.B., graduating from both secondary and secretarial school, before moving west to Hamilton. Together with her husband, Vince, they built a very successful service station maintenance business, which afforded them the privilege of enjoying many winters in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Frances was an immense help to Vince in his role as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. She was a devout and dedicated member of St. Margaret Mary Parish, and gave generously of her time to many of the parish functions. She considered all of the tasks that she undertook to be a labour of love. Frances had the privilege of knowing and having the friendship of many priests especially Fr. Jiri Macenauer. In her passing, it will be easy to remember this dear friend of “Jesus and Mary” for in her lifetime, she was filled with an indomitable spirit of love, caring, and prayerfulness, despite enduring many hardships. Though she was a grateful recipient of many favours, her generosity toward her family, friends, neighbours, and caregivers was truly inspiring, and will be forever cherished by all. Fond remembrance and grateful thanks to Frances’s niece, Sharon Gera, and her husband Chuck for their vigilant care and kindness throughout her lifetime, and their children, Rebecca and Matthew (Stacey), most precious to their Aunt Frances. A special thank you to her friend Georgina Miller who has been so supportive during her later years and to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their care and compassion shown to Frances during her stay. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Wednesday, November 27th from 10-11:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary Parish at 12pm. Burial to take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
