Obituary for Marguerite Mooney

Marguerite Clara Mooney

Peacefully passed away at home in her sleep on Sunday November 24, 2019 in her 102nd year. Marguerite was born on June 29, 1918 to her parents Francis and Clara Mooney. She was the last of her generation and was predeceased by her siblings, Jack (Kaye), Fred (Marion), Anne (Arthur) Emberson, Bern, Paul, Larry, Teddy, and Jim. Dearest Aunt to many nieces and nephews, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews. If you look at the words of a song “I did it my way” that would describe her and her life. Our Aunt Marg was incredibly independent and lived her entire life in the same house she was born in. She would until the last few years walk miles a day no matter the weather and very seldom did she take the bus or let others drive her. Marg lived a very simple life. She didn't own or want a TV and was very content with her radio, newspapers and crossword puzzles. Margie was not pleased when she got a push button cordless telephone as she was quite happy with her rotary dial. Marguerite had a great love for God and Church and always had her rosary, miraculous medal and brown scapular on her. She had a great devotion to our Blessed Mother and to the Novenas to St. Ann and St. Jude. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 19 Viewpoint Avenue, Hamilton at 10:30 am on Friday November 29th with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment of ashes to follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Freelton. Online condolences can be made to www.dermodys.com

If we live, we live for the Lord;
and if we die, we die for the Lord.
So, whether we live or die,
we belong to the Lord.
