Obituary for Mildred Shwaluk

Shwaluk, Mildred (nee Le Blanc)

Peacefully passed away at Macassa Lodge, Hamilton Ontario on November 29th, 2019.
Born in Robertville, New Brunswick on the 27th of January 1933. She was the youngest of 15 children of Lucy and Thomas. Survived by her daughters Lisette Souter of Hamilton, and Suzanne Shwaluk of Toronto, and her sisters Irene and Elva, and her brother Armand of New Brunswick. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, particularly Mildred, and Terry, Geraldine and Joy, Dorothy and Jany and dear friends Edna, Ann, Elsie and Verna.
After graduating from Moncton University with a BA she came to Toronto to seek her fortune. She met and married Samuel Shwaluk (deceased). She worked as a supply teacher, assistant to an MP at Queen’s Park and after the family moved to Hamilton, at Mohawk College in the Registrar’s office. Mildred was dedicated to her family and friends. She overcame many struggles in her life with grace and determination.
Mildred’s daily acts of kindness and understanding, were outwards signs of her deep Roman Catholic faith and her beautiful soul. She was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was a wonderful baker and sewer; her Christmas sugar cookies were much loved and an important part of Christmas Celebrations. Mildred was also an avid gardener; her peonies, marigolds and later her balcony baskets brought joy to many. She loved classical music, particularly opera, and had a bright curious mind and a quick wit. She freely gave hugs.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Parish (Our Lady of Lourdes site, 416 Mohawk Road East Hamilton, Ontario, L8V 2H7) on Wednesday, December 11th , 2019 at 10:00 a. m.
