Erin Dermody
Director of Operations

BA(Hons), MSc, Ph.D.

Erin is the great granddaughter of our founder Percival Xavier Dermody, the granddaughter of the late William P. Dermody (Senior) and daughter of William P. (Bill) Dermody. Erin has a collection of unique life, work and academic experiences that have contributed towards her research interests and business goals. She has worked extensively in one of the “oldest professions” associated with life events and hospitality: the funeral profession. A Hamiltonian by birth, she has had the privilege of traveling and learning about many different facets of the funeral profession through these experiences. Whether it be through extensive travel for team sport as a competitive swimmer, family vacations, work as an assistant cruise director, or completing her post-graduate studies abroad in death and tourism. Her doctorate work involved the study of ritual at gatherings following a death and the mediation of death by emotion. Erin’s array of experiences has added significantly to understanding the funeral profession from a slightly different perspective. She is very proud to call herself the fourth generation at Dermody’s.
