Gagne, Mona Cora (Turcotte)

Mona quietly passed at her home in St. Elizabeth’s Village on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the age of 88. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Armand Gagne and daughter Susan Demaline. Much loved Mother of son Jim (Susan) Gagne, and son Jason Gagne. Grandmother to Adam (Laura) Gagne, Marc (Nora) Gagne, Kristin Demaline, Karen Demaline (Keith Russell), Kimberly (Jeff) Parkin, Chantel (Matt) Valente, Armand “A.J.”, Chase and Madison Gagne. Mother-in-law of Bill (Fran) Demaline. Loving great-grandmother to Hanna, Lily, Ryder, Adelaide, Reese, Georgia, Harper, Rui, Mia, Ana, Gage, and Archer. Mona will be dearly missed by her sisters Edna Ecker (late Les), Marie (Harry) DeJong, Linda (Pierre) Gelly and brothers Irvin Turcotte (late Joan), Melvin (Barbara Gayle) Turcotte, Elden (Anne) Turcotte, Lesly (Patsy) Turcotte and sisters-in-law Gilberte, Lise, Germaine, Louise, and Nicole. Predeceased by her parents Theo and Mary Turcotte and brothers Nelson (Ann), Raymond, Carson, Ron, Ted (Rose), and Wayne. Mona is also survived by many relatives, nieces and nephews in Ontario, Quebec and the United States. She will also be missed dearly by her friend Betty Baldwin .Mona was born on January 4, 1929 in Mattawa, Ontario and raised there and in Quebec. She was a member of Catholic Women’s League, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Hamilton Mountain Liberal Association, a past member of Blessed Sacrament, and a past volunteer of Macassa Lodge. She was a retired employee of the Hamilton Board of Education and former Girl Guide leader. Mona was devoted to her family, friends, church and community. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Avenue) on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Parish (19 Viewpoint Avenue) on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sacred Heart Building Fund would be appreciated.
