Condolences

Condolence From: Rose Orr
Condolence: Sincere condolences to the Sherlock family. Father Phil will be missed by so many. We were so blessed to have him as our pastor until he retired. I am a member of the Resurrection (funeral) choir and was honoured to be able to sing at Father's funeral. It was so impressive to see so many clergy in attendance. R.I.P. Father Phil.

Condolence From: bro Gerald M. Craig, OFM Cap.
Condolence: Dear Bishop Sherlock and Family, May the Lord give you Peace!
I offer the support of my condolences and prayers as you commend Fr. Philip to the Lord. I suspect the Lord welcomed him into the Communion of Saints with these words: "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter the joy of your Lord."Know that you will continue to have a particular place in my prayer as you grieve him. May Father Philip and all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
bro Gerald M. Craig, OFM Cap.

Condolence: Father Phil filled a void in my life over 40 years ago after my father died. He was my teacher at Cathedral, my mentor and my friend. He loved story telling. Always a keen observer, the stories he shared were the stories of the people in his life; they usually contained a gem of wisdom and a large dose of humour. Generous and forgiving, he is surely in the presence of God.

Condolence: you married me...and 11 months later, came out of retirement, to do a funeral serviced for infant son/twin ...even though I was not catholic, you took me into your church and welcomed me and I promised to you, my children would be catholic, and they are...I felt so much comfort, you being there, for my infant son's funeral...I will never forget such comfort that you gave me...God speed7

Condolence: It is with terrible sadness that we learned of Fr. Phil's passing. He welcomed my family over 30 years ago, inviting my son Stephen to serve as an altar server for many years. He was always warm and compassionate and we will miss him very much. May God bless him abundantly for all his good works and kindnesses.

Condolence From: Marguerite Babcock
Condolence: My father, Bill Kula, taught with Father Phil for many years at Cathedral Boys' High School. I met Father Phil when I was a teenager and he was a guest in our home for many many years. He was a wonderful human being, a witty raconteur, a delightful dinner companion and an amazing priest. Dad called him "Speedy" when Father Phil delivered an outstanding quick sermon on a hot summer Sunday. It was Father Phil whom my Dad wanted to see when he was at the end of his life. He will be missed.
